IRELAND | ST PATRICK’S LOAF

NATIONAL DISH

Ingredients

  • 1 bread
  • 3 cups strong flour
  • 1/4 cup dark syrup
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup grated Jarlsberg® Reserve
  • 1 bottle Irish stout beer (33 cl)
  • 4 tbsp melted butter


Preparation

Set the oven to 175 °C (350 °F). Grease a loaf tin with half of the butter. Mix together the flour, baking powder, salt and syrup. Add the beer and mix to form a smooth dough. Add 3/4 of the cheese to the mixture and pour it into the loaf tin. Bake in the middle of the oven for 30 minutes, sprinkle the rest of the cheese on top and bake for another 15 minutes.
